Three Wishes A Novel Liane Moriarty 9780060586133 Books Reviews
Liane Mortiary is one of my favorite authors. She always seems to draw you into the story line & feel connected with all the characters.
I just happened to read this book on my 33rd birthday week. Perfect timing if I do say so myself.
I connected the most with Cat in the story. We have gone through some of the same situations and I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing her transition.
One of the main points that I got from three wishes is that you are the author of your story & at any time that you aren’t happy with how the story is unfolding, you have the option of changing the next chapter.
Characters are always likable. Story is about a family I would like to have. So far Liane ‘s books have happy endings and when I am finished I am ready to start another. What’s next?
I’m a fan of Liane Moriarty. I find she is a fun read, and I’ve enjoyed most all of her books. I probably enjoyed this the least, to date, mostly due to its disorganization. It was difficult to follow. But all in all, I enjoyed it simply for the characters and because, as I’ve said before, I’m a fan. Read this at the beach, or on vacation, as I did. It’s a nice, forgettable romp.
I loved this book and the characters. I laughed out loud and, although I did not cry, I certainly felt sadness for each of the girls in turn. It reads quickly and well. I did not want to walk away.
I had a hard time getting into this book. Usually, I enjoy this author. The three sisters are a bit complicated and the story was hard to follow in the beginning. These sisters have a strange way of getting along. They have very odd ways of handling their lives. One sister has a nice life with her husband, her little toddler and a step daughter. Another is going through a rough time once she discovers her husband infidelity and the third seems totally lost and trying to find her way in life. The story moves along, but I never really found this as amusing as some other reviews indicated. Worth a read, but again, I liked her other books better.
Liane Moriarty has become one of the authors whose books I automatically pick up. My previous experiences with her other books such as The Husband’s Secret and Big Little Lies has shown me a consistent level of great storytelling, intriguing plot and interesting characters. Moriarty’s Three Wishes is not any different in this regard. While the book remains consistent with what I would expect from Moriarty, I wouldn’t put it on the same level as with some of her other works.
Moriarty has a talent of creating some pretty unique and dramatic characters. In Three Wishes, you get a triple dose of these characters with the Kettle triplets Cat, Lyn and Gemma. They each have their own distinct personalities that add to a close dysfunctional family. While I can appreciate their uniqueness, at times they can be a little too much for me. There are times where their quirks can be charming but more often than not, they tend to make me think they’re being a bit melodramatic while I’m rolling my eyes. And it usually happens these sisters are within a scene. There’s a certain chaos occurring in the scenes and I can’t help but think how they all need to be medicated.
When you have a favorite or go-to author whose works you’ve read it’s understandable that you won’t love them all equally and there are certain books that you like less than the others. Three Wishes is not one of Moriarty’s books that I’d put on an elevated level. While some of the plot points are a little out there (pushing the whole notion of coincidences to the limit), Moriarty’s writing and storytelling ability was able to put it all together to create a nice story about life, love and family
Liane Moriarty really outdid herself this time. This is my absolute favorite book by this author yet! The characters, although triplets, are so well-developed, you are able to differentiate between them immediately. What I like about this story is that the dramatic events in the book do not drag on and on, there are many of them, but you're not left wading through chapters to get to them. I definitely recommend this book as a great summer read.
The first half if this book was the funniest thing I ever read. I laughed so hard in the middle of the night I woke up my poor husband. Around the middle it gets much more serious, but still ends well.
Good summer read
